NOVERMBER 2019
Contest Winner: James Rushforth
Photo Title: Crater Row
Photo Description: One of my favorite crater rows in Iceland’s vast interior. The intense red on the rims is caused by the scoria being colored by the oxidation of the iron minerals in the lava, this is turn contrasts sharply with the surrounding basalt. The scene is completely otherworldly, especially when coupled with the remote location. A white four wheel drive vehicle can be seen driving the road beneath the craters.
Editor’s Feedback: An incredible capture by James. His photo offers a great aerial perspective, but also shows off a unique side of Iceland, rarely seen before. In-field technique and superb processing made James’s photo an easy choice for winner.
Prize: James won $25 for his winning image!
